Starting Out

Bees are insects that live in groups called colonies and are led by the queen bee. When bees are provoked, they can become extremely dangerous inflicting harsh stings. So, it is important to take precautions when dealing with them.

Bees produce honey with the expectation to feed on it during harsh weather when they cannot go out of the hive to find food. Honey has several medicinal properties that make it precious and sought after by many people globally. The products that are produced by bees and the hive include honey, beeswax, propolis, and royal jelly.

Beekeeping is the act of raising and caring for honey bees. It is also referred to as APICULTURE. A beekeeper or apiarist is someone who keeps bees. You can keep bees to collect the products of the hive, to pollinate crops and to produce bees for sale to other beekeepers.
